And so it begins...

Okay, this is my first real blog... As someone who prides herself on a bit of technological know-how, this may be the first shame I have to own up to on these pages.

One of my many roles in life is to be a part of the movement that ends sexual violence (aka., rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse). I understand that, in order to do this, I must also help bring about far-reaching changes in our culture. The first step, then, is to point out those aspects of our culture that promote and contribute to the existence of sexual violence. Hence the blog.

I think we are all inundated every minute by images, words, interactions, and so on that support sexually violent behaviors. The first step to being able to reshape our culture and cultivate healthy, safe communities is to identify those parts of our culture that are unhealthy. My goal is to help everyone identify these and, if I'm really good, to help you identify ways you can create change. Sounds like a hell of a task, eh? Good thing I'm in it for the long haul.
