To Find Her Family

This was colored for me by a 21-year-old woman named Fon (Thai for rain) who was a victim of trafficking. I worked with her in Thailand, and we became very close.

If she had access to the internet... I think she would tell her story. She would reach out to others and make friends.

If she AND her family could both have had access to any kind of communication technology, she might have been able to find them again.

Without the technology, she didn't know how to get in touch with them. She had been through so much trauma already, and all she wanted to do was find her family. She told me that the only person who knew how to find her family was the man who had sold her into slavery. If she sought him out to find her family, she was sure he would kill her. Instead, she was stuck in a group home, learning traditional thai massage in hopes of being able to someday eek out a living serving foreign tourists for $1.50 and hour. For her, there were no choices.
